First Sketch Ideas for a Drama A-Level Monologue

First Sketch Ideas exploring ways to design sketches for our A-Level Drama exam

A Set Design was created for an original drama piece written by my group and me for our Drama A-Level. I used a metal frame with cages attached to represent the imprisonment of our characters, while using fabric hanging from the ceiling to represent a big top. I also painted handprints on the floor, marking the edge of the stage, demonstrating the Clowns trying to escape their situation.

This set design was created for my A-Level Drama final scripted practical exam. The Pillowman is based around two brothers who are accused of the murders of several children due to one of the brothers writing stories that seem similar to their way of death. The play is set in a totalitarian prison, so I wanted to show the cruelty and limited materials that the characters would have. I also wanted to demonstrate the mix between fiction and reality and how these books that were written had crept into reality.
